The Cherries recorded an emphatic opening day victory at Bury. The side put in a terrific performance to totally deserve the three points.
Ryan Garry missed out and Scott Guyett came in despite no involvement in the pre season games, and put in a faultless performance at the back.
There was an early scare when Ryan Lowe had the ball in the Cherries net, but the flag was already up. There was some confusion though as the referee went over to talk to his assistant, and many home supporters thought that he had in fact given a goal.
It was the Cherries who took the lead with a fantastic strike, Good build up play from Sammy Igoe and Mark Molesley allowed Brett Pitman space and he rifled the ball home from distance on 15 minutes. Both sides then had penalty shouts turned down. Molesley had the ball fired at his arm, but a penalty would have been harsh in the extreme. Steve Fletcher was then brought down in the Bury box after he turned the defence inside out, but his strong appeals were turned down.
On 38 minutes, it was 2-0, with Pitman this time turning provider. He hooked the ball in to the danger area and Anton Robinson timed his run to perfection to loop a header home to put the side in a strong position at the break.
On 50 minutes, the game was as good as over thanks to a strike of pure quality from Molesley. The midfielder thumped the ball home from outside the box to send the 326 Cherries supporters behind that goal in to raptures.
The side never let Bury have a sniff at goal and substitute Jeff Goulding had two great chances to make it four, but the side can be more than satisfied with an excellent all round team performance, three points and a clean sheet!
