The Cherries gained a battling draw at Bradford City, although manager Eddie Howe said after the game that he was slightly disappointed not to have come away with all three points.
Sammy Igoe failed a fitness test and he was replaced by Marvin Bartley. Josh McQuoid was away on international duty as Howe was forced to name just three outfield substitutes on the bench. 241 Cherries supporters made it to the game, many arriving late due to the M1 being closed and a number were still stuck in traffic and gave up all together!
Those who made it saw a decent performance as Bournemouth were slightly on top in the first half. Shwan Jalal had to be alert when he twice rushed out to claim the ball, but it was Bournemouth who came close midway through the half when Alan Connell sent in a curling effort from an angle, forcing home keeper Simon Eastwood to tip the ball round the post.
Bournemouth took the lead on 32 minutes thanks to a terrific ball from Brett Pitman to Anton Robinson. With the just the keeper to beat, Robinson made Eastwood commit himself and cleverly laid the ball in to the path of Pitman who had the simple task of slotting home.
It was a similar goal that got the hosts level before the break. Lee Bullock threaded the ball through for Gareth Evans to take the ball round Jalal and level matters.
Although City started the second half brightly, they were never allowed any clear cut chances and Bournemouth should have retaken the lead just before the hour mark. He was all alone in the box, but lifted the ball over. Steve Fletcher also came close with a diving header and Brett Pitman saw a shot deflected. At the other end, Jalal was in superb form, totally dominating his area, and in the end, it was a point well earned.
