Chesterfield scored all three goals as they said farewell to Saltergate with a 2-1 win.  The scoring was opening the first half with a Drew Talbot Own goal, but the home side came back to win it with a Jack Lester goal and then incredibly, six minutes were added on, and the Spireites grabbed a winner.

The defeat should not detract from a brilliant season for the Cherries and with Rochdale's result, the side have finished in a magnificent second place.

Warreen Cummings started his first game since Shrewsbury away and there was also a return for Shwan Jalal in goal.

The hosts started brightly in an emotion atmosphere, but Bournemouth came on strongly with some neat football and started to control the game, with Liam Feeney coming close after a good build up.  Chesterfield also looked dangerous, particularly from Jack Lester.  Anton Robinson was then denied at the other end by a fine save before on 42 minutes, Bournemouth took the lead.  Warren Cummings sent in a dangerous corner that Drew Talbot could only head in to his own net.

Chesterfield pressed hard at the start of the second half and looked as if they could have had a penalty and then saw Barry Conlon have a goal ruled out for offside.  That was the start though of a good spell for the Cherries and they came agonisingly close to extending the lead twice.  Danny Hollands was denied by a great save and then Brett Pitman saw a shot pushed on to the post.

Instead of a two goal cushion, Jack Lester netted at the other end to make it 1-1 with a fine finish and soon after, the hosts hit the post.  It was Bournemouth's turn to hit the wood work next when Alan Connell turned and sent in a splendid strike that looked a goal all the way, but that wasn't to be the last ever goal at Saltergate as the ball came back off the bar.  The accolade of the last ever goalscorer went to Derek Niven who scored five minutes in to time added on, although where that amount of time came from was anyone's guess.

So the season ends with defeat - but overall, nothing but glory.
