The Cherries are through to the second round of the FA Cup thanks to a Jason Pearce goal at Dean Court. Both sides finished the game with ten men, Lee Bradbury being controversially sent off for the Cherries.
Bournemouth started with Bradbury up front and he had the first half's best chance when he sent in an early goal bound header which was brilliantly saved by Steve Phillips. Rovers, with Jo Kuffour in the side, enjoyed plenty of possession in the first period with out looking too threatening. The game finally came to life on 39 minutes as Rovers were reduced to ten men. Byron Anthony had just been booked for diving in the area when he lunged at Sammy Igoe with studs up. He was shown a second yellow, when the offence seemed to warrant a straight red.
Rovers hung on with the ten men until half time, but it was Bournemouth who started the second half strongly to dominate. Brett Pitman had a great opportunity and then Joel Ward was denied by a fine save. From the corner on 76 minutes, Jason Pearce timed his run to perfection to head home what proved to be the winning goal.

Almost immediately, Bournemouth were down to ten men as Lee Bradbury was sent off after being booked for an altercation with Aaron Lescott. Both players certainly deserved yellow cards, but Lescott escaped with nothing. Just prior to the goal, Bradbury couldn't believe he had been booked after he challenged Phillips for the ball and Phillips dramatically dived over the advertising hoardings in to the North Stand!
In the closing stages as Rovers pushed forward, Shwan Jalal pulled off two great saves and Danny Hollands almost found a second goal, but in the end, Pearce's goal was enough to see Bournemouth in the hat for round two.
