It was a frustrating afternoon for the Cherries as they were beaten 1-0 at Barnet. Fortunately, Grimsby and Chester both lost, so it made little difference to the bottom of the table. Mark Molesley dropped out of the squad through illness and Steve Fletcher was on the bench due to two games in three days. Lee Bradbury and Jeff Goulding came in to the squad.
The Cherries were roared on by 1,286 visiting supporters, giving Barnet their biggest crowd of the season and the first time they had attracted over 3,000 to a game this season.

Bournemouth started brightly, and should have established at least a two goal lead by half time. Playing down the slope, Bournemouth created plenty of chances and came close to taking the lead on 11 minutes. Rhoys Wiggins crossed for Bradbury to meet with his head, but his effort came back off the bar.
Brett Pitman then came close as he latched on to a through ball, but he was denied by a superb save. Goulding then had a shot turned away and from the corner, Jason Pearce met it at the far Post, only to see Neal Bishop clear the ball off the line.

In to the second half, Barnet showed how they are used to the pitch and started to created chances themselves and on 51 minutes, headed in the only goal of the game. That was his 200th career goal and he was booked for his celebration, but the referee's book was already starting to fill up with Bournemouth players names as the game turned in to a scrappy affair.
Some baffling decisions went against Bournemouth as they sought some momentum. Goulding had an effort cleared off the line, Sammy Igoe had an effort held and Bradbury went close when he slid in from close range, but it simply wasn't going to be the Cherries day.
