A single goal from Andy Morrell was enough to settle a scrappy affair at Gigg Lane, in a match where a draw would have been a fair result.

Shaun Cooper came in for Lee Bradbury and Rhoys Wiggins returned from injury to take a place on the bench.  Marvin Bartley was named as a sub, but he was injured in the warm up and Ryan Pryce took his place.

Bournemouth started brightly without ever creating any clear cut chances.  It took a while for the game to have any sort of quality, and a Jeff Goulding header that was high was the best of the Cherries chances.  With the referee's whistle blowing at ever opportunity and the home keeper taking an age between every goal kick, the game never gained any momentum.  Indeed the main talking point of the half was of a dreadful dive from Phil Jevons that infuriated Shwan Jalal and Jason Pearce and despite the referee having a clear view, no card was shown.

Ten minutes in to the second half came the pivotal moment of the game.  Bennett took advantage of hesitation from Jalal to set up Morrell for the simplest of goals.  The Cherries best chance of the game immediately after when a powerful header from Danny Hollands was well saved.  Ben Futcher then saw a header bounce off the top of the bar before sub Liam Feeney went on a strong run and sent an effort just over.  Jeff Goulding came close right at the death, but the Cherries couldn't find a way back.
