A terrible start at the Fraser Eagle Stadium condemned the Cherries to defeat against Accrington Stanley in front of a paltry crowd of 1,152.
Bournemouth found themselves 3-0 down after 20 minutes with a display that had manager Jimmy Quinn apologising to the decent turn out of visiting supporters.
Accrington had been in action less than 48 hours but still looked a lively side and took the lead with their first attack. The impressive Paul Mullin was allowed to slip behind the defence to slot home. Bournemouth all the possession after that, but with Stanley's next effort at goal. they made it 2-0 after 13 minutes. Terry Gornell had a strike from distance and it took a deflection to loop over Shwan Jalal. Incredibly, the next effort on goal from the home side also found the target, a strike of pure quality from Rostyn Griffiths that gave Jalal chance.
The Cherries best chance of the half fell to new signing Michael Symes, who saw a shot go inches wide.
The second half saw Bournemouth have all the possession, but few clear cut chances. Jalal had little to do with only one shot that went just over looking likely to bother him. Substitute Jeff Goulding was denied a consolation when home keeper Kenny Arthur pulled off a fine save late on, but in truth, the Cherries never recovered from the poor start and Stanley were worthy winners.
