Neil Young fails to recover from injury in time to face Yeovil and Jo Tessem's back injury prevents him making a return to the squad.

Subs: Pryce, Franks, Finlay, Partington.

Yeovil: Flinders, Lynch, Guyett, Forbes, Woods, Stewart (Barry 80), Christophe, Rose, Church (Owusu 62), Kirk, Peltier.
Subs: Alcock, Bircham, Williams.

Cherries attacked the North Stand in the first half and put Yeovil keeper Scott Flinders into difficulty in the first minute. Max Gradel swept in an invitng free kick won by Brett Pitman that Flinders struggled to punch away under pressure.

The lunchtime rain made for a slippery surface and the teams were finding it difficult to maintain any real possession. Cherries were looking most dangerous from the flanks and it was from the right side that Cherries took a ninth minute lead.

Max Gradel was picked out in acres of space and he slid a ball to Danny Hollands on the edge of the box. The midfielder placed a cool effort into the corner giving Flinders no chance.

Sam Vokes' solo run and shot then nerly made it two as he held off a firm challenge and fired a low shot saved by the legs of the Yeovil keeper.

On eighteen minutes Yeovil created their first chance of the game. Scott Guyett rose highest from a left sided corner and headed narrowly wide the foot of the near post.

Simon Church spurned an excellent chance mid-way through the first half. Yeovil knocked a kick from David Forde straight back into the Cherries penalty area and Church fired over on the half volley having moved goalside of Gowling.

The visitors were getting into the game as the first half progressed. Despite a good block by Gowling on Church, Woods came in with a follow up and lashed just wide of the near post.

Cherries counter attacked and Max Gradel forced Flinders to punch behind after Kuffour had held the ball up well. From the corner Brett Pitman collected Yeovil's clearance and supplied a high ball that Vokes headed into the bottom corner to double Cherries advantage.

The second goal almost killed off the first half with very little further goalmouth action before the break. The game was disjointed, but it suited the side leading by two goals.

Half time: AFC Bournemouth 2-0 Yeovil Town

Despite an early Yeovil corner, it was Bournemouth making most of the early second half attacking. Pitman and Kuffour both had chances they should have done better with before Max Gradel flashed a dangerous cross along the six yard box.

That was the best the action delivered until the seventieth minute. The conditions worsened and neither side could take control of a scrappy second half. The Cherries defence however, dealt with ease anything Yeovil threw forward.

With twenty minutes remaining Jo Kuffour had space to make a forward run. His cross was collected at the far post by Pitman whose shot hit the body of Flinders and went behind for a corner.

Yeovil were relying on set pieces to test the Cherries defence, but a free kick in a decent position on seventy-five minutes from Woods was fired straight into the Cherries wall.

Two minutes later David Forde was finally forced into a save. Substitute Lloyd Owusu's header was tipped over the bar. At the other end another mazy run from Gradel resulted in Pitman's shot being parried wide by Flinders.

Yeovil looked a little more like scoring in the final five minutes with a couple of corners, but the game was long since won by the home side.
