Cherries met table topping Luton at The Fitness First Stadium and a new stadium record crowd witnessed a fourth successive home defeat. A late goal won it although Luton could easily have scored early on with a few good chances coming their way.
Rowan Vine spun out to the left wing and played in a cross that Howe headed clear as far as Berkovic, whose half volley was always rising.
On nine minutes a tussle involving Marcus Browning in which he thought he was fouled saw the ball run Vine's way, but Moss was quickly out to meet him and the shot rolled safely away from goal.
A contender of show-boat of the season helped to set up Cherries first chance of the game. Hayter and O'Connor both flicked the ball forward leaving the Luton defence standing and Spicer's effort from just inside the area was met by Beresford's outstretched hand before a defender put the ball behind.
On twenty minutes Spicer turned provider for Elliott who had made a great run to split the Luton defence. His deft shot beat Beresford and Holmes was on the line to hack the ball away.
A few minutes later Luton were reduced to ten men. Russell Perrett and James Hayter came together when chasing a forward ball and the referee adjudged Perrett to have fouled the Cherries striker. As the last man the referee had no option to dismiss the centre half once he'd signalled the foul. Mike Newell almost immediately made a defensive switch bringing on Chris Coyne for the unlucky Rowan Vine.
Luton still pressed the ball forward after going down to ten men and Simek and Mills both had to make good blocks to concede corners from well worked moves after the half hour mark.
Stephen Purches scored his first of the season against Wrexham seven days ago and nearly added another with a superb thirty-five yard effort that needed an equally impressive save to keep it out. O'Connor then saw his long range crack blocked and Steve Fletcher followed up with an attempt that rolled wide of the far post.
It was then Moss's turn to pull off a top draw save. Two minutes before the break Howard latched onto a ball over the top and sent the ball flying for the corner only to be denied by a fine save.
Half time: AFC Bournemouth 0-0 Luton Town
Five minutes into the second half Luton were almost gifted an opening goal when Neil Moss failed to control a backpass and conceded a corner. Curtis Davies rose highest and placed a header was blocked off the line by the head of James Hayter.
Luton were defending in numbers and frustrating the Cherries attack that remained patient throughout the second half.
A fired up Warren Feeney came on just after the hour mark and was immediately in the action dispossessing Matt Mills to bring the ball forward for the visiting team.
Cherries increased the tempo and were holding a lot more of the ball in the Luton half as the second period elapsed. Spicer and Fletcher both had shots from the edge of the area blocked as the visiting defence remained dogged.
Feeney was being marked closely by Eddie Howe although when he received the ball with his back to goal on seventy-three he managed to turn and roll a shot wide of the post.
With twelve minutes remaining Sean put on another striker in Alan Connell, replacing Wade Elliott, who made the starting eleven having passed a fitness test earlier on the day.
Luton began to work the counter attack and with nine minutes left on the watch Feeney helped the ball onto Showumni, who should have done better with the chance created for him.
Three minutes later he did do better. Nicholl's swung in a corner that Cherries failed to clear and the substitute lashed home off the bar from eight yards.
Spicer then struck from distance, but a better effort came from O'Connor whose wel struck drive couldn't be held by Beresford at the first attempt.
Final Score: AFC Bournemouth 0-1 Luton Town
