- Sean On Opening Day Defeat
Here is what Sean O'Driscoll had to say after watching his side go down 3-0 at home to Chesterfield.
Marcus has a problem with his calf. We'll have it looked at and will know more about the situation tomorrow. He's taken part in every session over pre-season training and to have that happen after seven minutes is a bit deja-vu!
Stephen Cooke then had to come on very early and although he's a different type of player I thought he did as well as he could. I don't think the substitution affected us that much, but we didn't get a performance. It's as poor as we've played here for as long as I can remember. I'm a great one for picking out positives, but I'm struggling to find any from today.
We spoke about certain things at half time, but they might as well have stayed out there. Sometimes players have got to take responsibility themselves and what we asked them to do they didn't do. It was shambolic at times, but we've all got to hold our hands up and take the flak.
It was a difficult game for the two new lads to settle in to. Lionel is a threat, but you sometimes get a bit frustrated there's no end product, but he's only eighteen. I thought Leon led the line really well, but it was difficult for anyone to shine today given the overall performance. We never functioned as a team and that makes it difficult for everyone.
