Few fans can point to a correct decision by the officials attracting so much controversy as yesterday at Edgeley Park. Cherries manager Sean O'Driscoll was standing next to the fourth official at the time and has had his say on the last minute incident as well as the Cherries' overall performance.

Sean said, "How can there be any disbelief when everyone saw the handball? The correct decision was made. The disbelief is that it took four minutes to make the correct decision. The linesman and referee were both closer to the action than the fourth official, who was on the half way line with me."

"He's a brave fourth official because it's the first time I've seen a fourth official do anything other than manage the dugouts. I hope they're in there at the moment wondering how they've missed it. I hope the assessor is questioning how they can miss a deliberate handball."

The vital statistic for Bournemouth was a second straight league defeat and O'Driscoll refused to get downbeat about it. He added, "The hold up didn't help our play, but there were only a couple of minutes left so it didn't really have an effect. We were in the ascendancy for most of the second half and at the moment are going through a patch where things aren't falling for us.

"Things like that happen in a season, but our general play was excellent. I'm pleased with some of the football we played. The heads never dropped and we showed great commitment and attitude so there have been lots of positives."

Lewis Buxton conceded the early free kick that led to Stockport's opener and Sean commented, "I'm annoyed with the free kick leading to the first goal as we've done a lot of work on defending throws and he's tried to win a ball that he's had no chance to win. Lambert has looked as though he's miss-hit the free kick and it fell kindly for them in the box. That's just an example of the way things are going for us at the moment."
