Read Sean O'Driscoll's post match comments after the 1-1 draw with Chesterfield last night. Here is a selection of the interview. The interview itself can be heard in its entirety on Cherries World in the Radio section.
We thought we started really well and could have been one or two goals up, but it wasn't to be. Unfortunately we lost Shaun Maher to injury and that caused us to re-shuffle and wobble a bit. We had to re-organise and during that time they scored, for them, a good goal. For us it was a sloppy goal with the ball over the top and a mis-understanding at the back and Marvin won't get a better chance.
Once Chesterfield had got in front I thought they were full of confidence. A side that's struggles suddenly becomes a side you wonder why they've struggled and we always knew that was going to be difficult. We felt we had to take a chance if we were going to get anything from the game and that's what we did.
Whether we are predominantly defending or attacking one of the things we practice is to take control of games and knowing what certain players are going to do with the ball. I felt we didn't have any of that control and we may have been too open with the two wingers so we changed it. It was unfortunate for the two boys taken off, but we felt the change was needed. We went more attacking and bringing Derek on in the past has worked because it changes the point of attack.
They kept going, kept plugging away and kept creating chances. Carl Muggleton has been in great form this season by the reports and he showed that again tonight. We weren't as secure at the back as we should have been, but we felt the goal was coming. We now need to learn the lessons from tonight and put them right on Saturday.
