O'Driscoll on a one-off week at Bournemouth

Sean O'Driscoll described the week's preparations for the win at Lincoln as a "one-off" when speaking to reporters after the win at Lincoln. The danger that Lincoln were going to pose was predictable, but required a very different approach to training. O'Driscoll described it as "not the way we would like to play", but paid tribute to the efforts rewarded by three more league points.
A week in the life of AFC Bournemouth took a turn with injury news at the wrong time and the prospect of having to devote the week to countering the attack of the Alamo expected from Lincoln as boss O'Driscoll explained, "It's been a frantic week for us not helped by the two injuries to Jason and Shaun and the side was picked on Monday really because we weren't hopeful of bringing someone new in for the match." "It's a unique place to come and they play in a unique way, but everyone's reaction has been fantastic. We had a game plan, which we stuck to and we didn't want to be frustrated with the free kicks and corners they piled onto us."
O'Driscoll added that it was certainly not going to be a regular occurrence, but was pleased that the work put in paid dividends. He added, "We always knew we'd get a goal and the set play worked and we fell back a bit after that for the equaliser. Credit to the boys though they got it back and Alan's come up with the goods again. The players have followed through what we worked on all week and it's not how we would like to play, but we knew it would be a one off and the efforts have been rewarded."
"We were toying with the idea of playing Chukki rather than Alan because he gives a little more strength and is better in the air than Alan at the moment. Alan is desperate to play and desperate to score and it would have been unfair to drop him. You always thought that if he got a chance he would take it. He worked his proverbial socks off and although he was disappointed to come off we needed a fresh pair of legs and everyone has played their part in a great win."
The match also saw the welcomed return of Steve Fletcher to the squad and his inclusion gave the players and fans a great lift to take into the last quarter hour of the match. O'Driscoll said, "Fletch is a little bit over-weight, but he's been out a long time and has worked extremely hard and when you've got a knee problem there's a finite amount of work you can do. He's got more confidence with his knee having trained with us for two weeks and that fifteen minutes on the pitch today will have done him a lot of good. With Derek and Warren both out at the moment it will be a tremendous boost to everybody if Fletch can get back to play some part in games."
