Cherries boss Eddie Howe has identified the areas where he needs to strengthen as injuries and an international call up has affected his squad. The Cherries manager has identified a striker on his wish list and also a keeper as Dan Thomas remains sidelined and there is no fit youth keeper available.
Eddie told www.afcb.co.uk, "It showed on Tuesday that we had few options. In saying that, there were a lot of positives and it was great to give Jayden Stockley the experience. I thought he did well and as a 16 year old, it will benefit him hugely in the future. We also had Lyle Taylor coming on and that was a great experience for him too after he made his debut on the Saturday.
What we lacked was any experience up front with both Josh McQuoid and Michael Symes missing after Saturday and Steve Lovell and Steve Fletcher both still out. Michael Symes is a big doubt for Saturday. He perhaps shouldn't have played against Notts County, but he put his body on the line and wanted to be out there. He dictated to us that he wanted to play, but he was only at 50%. Josh got a knock on his calf and he is a doubt as well.
We were keen to bring someone in before the deadline, but nothing materialised in the end and we ultimately decided to go with what we've got. I'd still like to bring someone in up front and we're still looking.
The goalkeeping position is something that concerns us as Dan Thomas is still injured and we also have no youth keeper as Shane Murphy is also injured. I would like to have a keeper on the bench and it's something we are working on now. It is difficult to find a keeper who is prepared to come here and be a number two and work behind Shwan, but we are close to seeing if we can get someone in. It's not something I'm comfortable with not having a keeper on the bench. I would much rather have one that not, but that's the hand we've been dealt."
