HOWE ON RESERVES OPENER

Posted on: Tue 17 Aug 2010

Cherries boss Eddie Howe gave his thoughts after the reserve team's 4-0 win over Exeter at Dean Court.

"Today was a very a very useful excersise and players who needed 90 minutes under their belts got that and I thought it was an excellent performance, so it was a good day.  There were some very good performances from individuals and from the team which is really pleasing.

We had people out there who are knocking on the door and impressing enough to be considered for the first team.  That's what we want, healthy competition for places, and we certainly have that now.

As pleased as I was, we don't have another reserve game now until 6 September, and only five before Christmas.  It's not ideal to be honest because there are not enough games for us.  I have spoken to a few teams and we will be arranging extra games throughout the season."
