Cherries boss Eddie Howe was obviously disappointed to lose on Saturday at Shrewsbury, but also justifiably proud of his threadbare squad for an excellent display, that deserved reward.
Eddie told www.afcb.co.uk. "I felt we played well in the first half and could have been ahead, but was then disappointed to concede so soon after half time. If we had got our noses in front then it could have been a different story and with them having something to hold on to, it made it difficult.
It was very much a patched up side, but I thought all the boys gave me everything and I couldn't have asked for any more. The injuries came so late that it was difficult to work on the shape before the game, but despite that, the boys all did well. We did make a plea to the league on Saturday morning to bring a player in, but they wanted medical paperwork and there was simply not enough time to be able to do that. I don't really seeing our captain and a player who was ever present out of the team for any other reason than that they were injured, but that's how it was. It was very frustrating to say the very least!
The spirit and attitude was all I could have asked for. People will see a defeat, but I can't ask for any more from this group. Hopefully during this week we can get a couple more players fit. We have a couple who are close, so we will have to assess our options.
We now have to take the positives from the performances in the last two games and take that in to Saturday's match against Morecambe. We will have to err on the side of caution in training because of the numbers we have. We are working with a squad of just 17 players and we have all seen the affect that a few injuries can make.
Whether or not we go to the league to see if we can bring someone in will depend on how the week goes. That's all very well to say that, but you still have to find players that are available and that they could fit in. It's a one or two day job to bring someone in and that alone brings it's own problems."
