Bond Previews Gillingham - "Players need to be positive"

Cherries Manager Kevin Bond is focusing on keeping the players positive ahead of Saturday's home League One match against Gillingham (3pm).

The Gills have won just four points and scored six goals away from Preistfield this season. Cherries meanwhile, have picked up just two home points and five goals.

It provides an opportunity for either team to kickstart their respective form and Bond is hoping a positive attitude can bring about the right result for the home side.

Looking ahead to the match Bond said, "We are looking to move forward and we'll do everything we can to win the game. We can't afford to be gung-ho about it, but we'll be giving our level best. The lads are up for it and we hope we can get that monkey off our back this weekend.

"Sometimes when things aren't going well you can go into a game thinking 'here we go again' and hoping the same things don't keep happening. But we need to be full of confidence if we can and the lads need to get that feeling for the ninety minutes.

"If we can just eradicate the individual errors we've been making then we'll be able to pose much more of a threat in games and help us pick up some wins. We need to get something on the board and start the game in as positive frame of mind as possible.

"Gillingham will give nothing less than 100%. Some of the players they've brought in I was interested in myself. But we couldn't compete financially and the fresh faces have worked for them to a degree. They had a setback last weekend and we hope to capitalise on that at the weekend."
