Foley's Season Over After Op
Foley's Season Over After Op - Anderton meanwhile, treated in Germany
Steve Foley's season is officially over after the Irishman had an operation that he hopes will end his ongoing back problems. Foley hasn't played since the 4-0 reverse against Port Vale in September 2006.
A number of procedures during this time have proved fruitless in attempting to avoid surgery. His operation in Glasgow yesterday was The Wallis Implant (click here for more information of what it involves) and the expected recovery time is twelve weeks.
Given the period of time Foley has been absent for, the operation ends any chance of him playing again this season. Physio Steve Hard hopes Foley will be able to kick start his career from the start of July be it here or at another club.
Darren Anderton
Dazza has been to Germany this week in a bid to cure a hamstring problem that has kept him out since the visit of Leeds back in November.
Renowned doctor Hans Muller Wohlfarth has examined the former England International. Wohlfarth is a world leader in the sports injury field and is the club doctor at Bayern Munich. He's also treated the likes of Paula Radcliffe and Dame Kelly Holmes.
Anderton has received injections to his back and hamstring and began running again today. If given the all clear he can be pushed on to make a return to full training sooner rather than later.
Gareth Stewart
The goalkeeper missed Tuesday's Luton victory with a tight hamstring, but he has since started training again. Stewart has been involved with running and kicking and has an outside chance of being fit for Saturday's Port Vale match.
Neil Moss
Mossy's season is effectively over following his operation last week. He'll wear a cast until Tuesday when that will be replaced with something a little softer to support him with.
Ryan Garry
The defender has joined in a couple of sessions with the team this week as he slowly builds up to full training. He's been going through a mini pre-season with physio Steve Hard comprising of a lot of running and fitness work.
Garry is being integrated slowly into the ball work and training sessions and is hoping to be training as usual from February 11th. A return to match action has been pencilled in for February 26th when the reserves are due to play Cheltenham.
