What happens at The Cherries Learning Centre?

The Cherries Learning Centre is located in the east stand of AFC Bournemouth. It was built in April 2004 as a learning centre. It was funded by the DfES, Bournemouth Borough Council and AFC Bournemouth as part of an initiative to motivate and encourage life long learning in the community.

The major role of The Cherries Learning Centre is to provide a very successful out of school hour's project called 'Playing for Success' which was originally set up at AFC Bournemouth in September 2002 in order to raise achievement in young people between the ages of 10 and 14 years.

The main objective of 'Playing for Success' is to increase numeracy, literacy and ICT skills along with building confidence and communication skills. The Cherries Learning Centre is also available for school groups to access a variety of educational programmes during the daytime and for hire as a training or meeting venue.
