AFC Bournemouth have announced the four nominations for the Michael Matthews Player of the Month for December.

Nathan Ake, Lewis Cook, Ryan Fraser and Adam Smith are all up for the award, after a month which saw the Cherries compete in eight fixtures across all competitions.

Ake, a Dutch international, made seven appearances in the final month of 2017, only missing the Carabao Cup contest against former side Chelsea, where the Cherries narrowly lost 2-1.

Additionally, the 22-year-old netted a second goal for his side in the 3-3 draw with West Ham on Boxing Day, as the Cherries added another point to their tally.

Lewis Cook has also played a pivotal part across December, cementing his place in the heart of midfield alongside the likes of Andrew Surman, Harry Arter and Dan Gosling. Like Ake, the youngster has featured seven times.

Ryan Fraser, or Wee Man as he is known around the club, has had an excellent December, with his highlight undoubtedly coming against Everton just last week.

The winger netted twice as the Cherries earned a hard-fought win against Sam Allardyce's side, who hadn't lost since taking over the reins at Goodison Park in November.

Finally, Adam Smith is the fourth player to make the shortlist. December has seen the 26-year-old not only feature at right-back, but also at left-back as the Cherries injury count increased towards the end of the month.

Nevertheless, the defender has continued to take any positional changes in his stride, having also made a total of seven appearances across the month.
