Girls teams celebrated with awards night

This week saw Vitality Stadium host the AFC Bournemouth girls' end of season awards.

Welcoming the four youth age groups, the evening looked to celebrate their achievements for the season.

Head of community Steve Cuss, who hosted the evening, opened with celebrating the on and off the pitch successes for the girls.

For the first time this season, the AFC Bournemouth girls’ players were involved in the advertising of AFC Bournemouth trainingwear, whilst other players have been included in other marketing campaigns such as the large photo on the side of the stadium.

Sponsors Bournemouth University were present at the awards, with chief operating officer Jim Andrews offering words of congratulations to the girls on their excellent seasons.

Under-21s players Kyle Taylor and Charlie Seaman also attended and were on hand to talk about their footballing careers to date, offer words of advice and pose for photographs with the award winners.

In total, eight individual awards were handed out across the four age groups. Players’ Player of the season was awarded to Jess Selby (U10), Harriet McHugh (U12), Hannah Francis (U14) and Erin Thickett (U16), whilst the Player of the Season awards were given to Zara Cheshire (U10), Lucy Cooper (U12), Sophie Andrews (U14) and Lois Murphy (U16).

Speaking after the event, Cuss told afcb.co.uk: “The awards evening was a fantastic event bringing all four teams together to celebrate an outstanding season.”
