Ability Counts Teenager to represent Wales

Following on from his earlier Welsh National Team trial in February, Jonathon Lloyd-Jones has been selected to represent his county in the Home Nations Championships in Belfast this month.

Jon, who is a regular in the AFC Bournemouth Ability Counts senior team, sponsored by Cathedral City, has been attending trial sessions with the under 19-Learning Disability squad since February.

Last weekend, Jon travelled to Belfast with the rest of the Welsh squad to compete in the Home Nations Championships, where he will face opposition from Northern Ireland, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland.

Jon hopes to play in the three 90-minute fixtures, which will take place from Tuesday 3rd April until Friday 6th April against the three other Home Nation sides, in the hope of winning the trophy at the end of the week.

Speaking to Ability Counts Co-Ordinator Katy Shephard, she told afcb.co.uk: “We are so proud of how far Jon has come since joining us as a young teenager.

“He has come through the under-16s development centre, and up into our senior team.”

“He will always give 100% and he truly deserves this opportunity to represent Wales in the Learning Disability Home Nations Championships!”
