AFC Bournemouth under-18s coach Carl Fletcher is looking forward to Saturday's south coast derby with Portsmouth.

The match is the second of the new Youth Alliance fixtures for the second-half of the season, the first of which saw the Cherries pick up a 1-1 draw away to Southend United on Saturday.

Fletcher's side host Pompey at Canford Park and he is keen for his team to impress in the new fixtures, which see the Cherries come up against unfamiliar opposition.

"We're all really looking forward to taking on Portsmouth," Fletcher said.

"It's a south coast derby and it will be tough of course. The players will know each other from going to school together and gotten to know them throughout the years.

"It's our first game at home for a little while and fingers crossed we can get a good performance in.

"We're really looking forward to testing ourselves in the next batch of fixtures, we'll be coming up against some opposition that we don't usually play.

"Exeter always provide a tough test and play a good brand of football, while Luton have done really well and have only lost one game all year I think.

"Experiencing the different scenarios the different teams will put us in is great for the players."

Supporters can get behind Fletcher's men at Canford Park Arena on Saturday with kick-off at 11am.
