Posted: Tue 23 Feb 2016

AFC Bournemouth captain Tommy Elphick has been immortalised in a 15m-high piece of street art in the town centre.

The giant mural has been painted by globally renowned and Bournemouth-based graffiti artist Rick Walker to celebrate the town’s vibrant creative and sporting community.

The art piece is the third in a series of giant city murals commissioned by the consumer education inactivate, Get it Right from a Genuine Site.

The initiative works to promote and increase awareness and respect for the value of the UK’s creative industries including music, film, TV, sport, literature and gaming.

“It’s a real honour that Rick Walker and the Get it Right campaign saw it fit to include my image on such a ground-breaking piece of street art,” commented Elphick upon seeing the mural for the first time.

“I am really excited to see the finished artwork and, on behalf of everyone at AFC Bournemouth, I want to say a big thank you for our inclusion.

“I hope that what we have achieved at AFC Bournemouth over the last few years can inspire a generation of youngsters from the area to dream big – as a team we have showed that together, anything is possible.”
