Posted: Tue 16 Feb 2016

AFC Bournemouth striker Benik Afobe has been named the Michael Matthews' Player of the Month for January.

Afobe, who signed in the January transfer window from Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers, hit the ground running and scored twice in three games last month.

The first of his strikes for the club came at home to Norwich, where the striker side-footed an excellent finish from Charlie Daniels' centre.
The 23-year-old's other goal in January came at the Stadium of Light, where he stooped low to head the Cherries in front in the 1-1 draw against Sunderland.

The striker has gone on to score three in his first six clubs for the club in total and received his prize prior to the weekend game against Stoke City.
