Max Gradel has expressed his delight at returning to action with AFC Bournemouth.

The Ivorian returned at Watford after a six-month injury lay-off, following an early injury to Junior Stanislas.

"It feels very, very good to be back," explained Gradel.

"It has been a long time that I have waited for this moment. I am so happy to be back.

"I would like to thank everyone that has believed in me and treated me to help me come back stronger."

It was after only 23 minutes that Gradel was introduced at Vicarage Road and he went on to play the rest of the match.

The 28-year-old admitted that, although he had played more minutes than he initially expected, there had been no negative reaction to the run out.

"I was surprised," said Gradel.

"I didn't expect one of my team mates to get injured so early in the game, but when you are on the bench you always have to be ready.

"I had been prepared to be ready and maybe come on for the second half, but as today showed you never know when you will be called upon.

"I was just glad to get back out on the pitch and helping the team."
