The new recruit spoke of the gratitude he feels for the welcome he has received on the south coast, as well as his disappointment in not being able to get one over on his former club.
"It was a big game," started Afobe.
"Not just for me, but for everyone. So we are disappointed that we have come away having lost.
"We started slowly and gave them too much respect - we all knew that and the gaffer told us so at half time.
"After that we came out and started the second half well, but at 2-0 down against a team like Arsenal it's always going to be difficult."
The 22-year-old explained how he has seamlessly settled in to life at Vitality Stadium, and thanked supporters for their part in that process.
"The fans have been great to me," Afobe continued.
"Everywhere I've gone I've had a good relationship with the fans. I've always been like that and hopefully I can keep that here.
"Now it's a case of focussing on the football so I can keep repaying them by playing well and scoring goals for them."
