AFC Bournemouth's nominated charity policy

Posted: Fri 27 May 2016

AFC Bournemouth have pledged their charity policy to support four good causes in the local area for the 2016/17 season.

The quartet of charities, who will all receive special fundraising and donations from the club, applied to become a nominated charity back in May.
The four charities that AFC Bournemouth will be officially supporting are:
Diverse Abilities
Diverse Abilities is Dorset’s disability charity supporting children and adults with profound physical and learning disabilities across the county.
Formed in 1955, Diverse Abilities tailor make their programmes to supporting children and adult's needs today and into the future while enabling them to experience a lifetime of opportunities.

Dorset Cancer Care Foundation (DCCF)
DCCF was established to provide financial assistance to cancer sufferers and their families, exclusively in Dorset.

They provide awards to help with treatment, recovery and recuperation when traditional care may be insufficient.

Mosaic is a Dorset wide charity offering a pathway of support to bereaved children, young people and their families. They also work with young people who are facing the death of a loved one.
Every child has the opportunity to attend their residential weekend programme where they can meet others and share their experiences.

Space Project
The Space Youth Project supports Dorset’s youth who are or may be Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender or anything in between.
The Space Project's aim is to empower all young people to have positive self-esteem and confidence, to give realisation they are supported, to give them a sense that they are part of a community and never alone.

AFC Bournemouth chairman Jeff Mostyn said, "I am delighted that we are able to commit to supporting these amazing and unique charities.
"The work they undertake in the local community is invaluable to such a wide range of people, so it’s very important to us that we are able to help and use our Premier League exposure to support them.
"I hope that our support will continue to highlight the incredible work they do in our local community and we will be doing everything to help this season."
The Cherries will be providing all four charities with fundraising through selected club events, donating signed merchandise, supplying match tickets, providing player appearances and much more to increase the charities' presence in the local community.
AFC Bournemouth will offer charities the opportunity to apply in March 2017 to be one of the club’s nominated charities for the 2017/18 season.

More information will be shared on both the club website and social media in due course.
