Dan Gosling believes he and his team-mates will benefit from a change of scenery during their three-day training camp in Madrid.
The players’ first training session took place on Thursday morning, with Gosling both impressed and thankful of some new surroundings.
“It’s nice to get away,” he told afcb.co.uk
. “When you’re training in one place for a whole season it can often get a bit samey.
“I think as a group, and after our recent results, we needed this getaway. We’re all here together and we’re spending every day with one another. It is a good opportunity to bond with the rest of the players.
“We’re living together for the three or four-day period and you’re constantly learning about your team-mates. If we get a bit of time free, we’ll nip out and have a coffee together and that’s good for team morale and bonding.
“Some clubs use breaks and getaways for different things, but I think these that last three or four days are enough. After this period everyone will be raring to go and ready to kick on again.
“The training sessions are always intense and that’s no different whilst we’re out here. Personally, I always feel like I get something out of the sessions. Every day is hard work, but we’re feeling the benefits of that.”
Following the side’s first training session in the Spanish capital, Gosling also took time to speak of the facilities and hospitality on offer from Real Madrid.
He added: “The facilities are great - you could argue there are none better than this in the world. Real Madrid are one of the top clubs in the world, so you'd only expect the best. We’ve been treated very well so far and the pitches are great.”
