Gosling: It's going to be a long two weeks now, we had so many chances

Eddie Howe’s side were unable to take advantage of the extra man after Steven Pienaar was sent off with the scores level at 1-1.

Gosling believes that the Cherries failed to make the most of their chances and were made to pay by David Moyes’ side.

He said: "I think we probably slacked off a bit and the intensity went a little bit.

"We probably took our foot off the gas just a couple of percent and it gives them a little leg up.

"The first goal was sloppy from our part, we knew he was going to back in. That’s what he’s good at and we fell for it today. He finished it off well.

"Obviously the second one is a sucker-punch. It was poor from us on a thrown in, we didn’t get anyone in front of Defoe and then it’s in the back of the net before you know it.

"We had so many chances in the second half, we just needed one to come off someone’s back and go in or just a little slice of luck. Their keeper made some great saves again and it’s just one of those days where nothing went in for us.

"It wasn’t that we were making sloppy mistakes in our own half on the ball. I thought we were ok on the ball. We needed to find the pockets a little bit quicker, that’s probably where we lacked a little bit today but overall our performance was OK."

The 26-year-old also spoke of how crucial it is to bounce back after the international break, following two defeats on the bounce.

He continued: "It’s going to be a long two weeks now. The last two games have been disappointing.

"We were top ten and we were in a great position to kick on from there and get ourselves higher up the league but it wasn’t to be and now we need two weeks of hard work and get back to winning ways next game."
