AFC Bournemouth remembered the historic achievements of the 1986/87 Division Three title winning side with an intimate event at Vitality Stadium.
30 years ago, Harry Redknapp lead his Cherries side to an unlikely yet captivating promotion winning season which saw the club reach the second tier for the first time in its history.
To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the accomplishment, 200 season ticket holders saw Paul Morrell, Carl Richards, Trevor Aylott, Mark Newson, Tommy Heffernan, John Williams, Mark Whitlock, Dave Puckett, Keith Williams, Morgan Lewis, Richard Cooke and their manager Redknapp reunited in the Balfour Suite to share their memories of that season.
Hosted by Jimmy Glass, supporters not only enjoyed a Q and A but a dinner of pie and mash, a quiz and a highlights package to reminisce on one of the club’s greatest achievements.
"It was a fantastic evening," Redknapp said after the event.
"It was such a special achievement for this group of players and it was absolutely fantastic to see everyone – some of the lads haven’t seen each other for several years.
"We had a lot of characters that worked really hard and it really was a massive effort that season particularly as there were some big teams in our division, the likes of Middlesbrough and Swindon. It was great to see everyone back together and to reflect on some truly special memories."
