Andrew Surman in contention for Leicester trip

Eddie Howe confirms midfielder could feature in final game of the season at Leicester City

AFC Bournemouth could be set to welcome Andrew Surman back to the matchday squad for the final game of the Premier League season at Leicester City.

Surman has been missing with a knee injury since the opening game of April at Southampton.

And with Lewis Cook definitely set to miss out after jetting to Korea Republic to join up with the England squad ahead of the FIFA Under-20 World Cup, Surman’s return could prove a timely boost for the Cherries.

“We’ll obviously be missing Lewis Cook,” Eddie Howe confirmed during his pre-match press conference. “He’s now away with the England squad and we of course wish him well.

“We do have Andrew Surman back in contention. Whether he’s going to be ready for the weekend or not, we don’t know at this stage.

“Dan Gosling is also okay after his recent calf problem and Benik Afobe is continuing to improve.

“We’ll have to wait and see on where we are on Sunday. We’re reluctant to make too many changes because we’re chasing wins. Every position in the league is worth so much.

“We won’t be making too many changes. We don’t want to do anything that will have too much of an effect on the team.”

Callum Wilson, Adam Federici and Rhoys Wiggins (all knee) remain long-term absentees.
