Surman: Middlesbrough will be a tough place to go

The Cherries go into the game unbeaten in their last four and with just one defeat in seven as Eddie Howe's men look to build on their recent Premier League record.

Surman believes that the side must expect a tough test against Boro and approach the game in the right manner.

He told afcb.co.uk: "We've got to work harder than we did against Spurs and as long as we keep that attitude we've got a great chance of winning the game.

"We need to go in with the same attitude and the same intensity. We can't be looking at them thinking they're below us and we'll be alright this week.

"Home form has been really good so far and I think an element of last year was obviously our away form so we need to try and pick up as many points as we can.

"I think we were probably unlucky not to pick up three points against Crystal Palace and Watford so were close to it but we just need to try and get a couple of wins on the road and hopefully we can start that on Saturday.

"It is a tough place to go. Boro have a massive stadium and really good home support so we need to go there and try and impose ourselves in the game and make sure we can come away with three points."

The midfielder will be looking forward to the weekend's game with even more impetus, after being sidelined through illness against Spurs, which forced the midfielder to miss his first ever Premier League match for the Cherries.

He continued: "I was gutted at the time and I still am to be fair. But that's football, it takes a lot to stop me from getting on the pitch but I just didn't have enough energy.

"I suffered from a bug from Friday and it was really frustrating. Having said that, Goso [Dan Gosling] came in and had a great game.

"It was a great performance. I know it was a draw but it's a very very tough team to play against so to come away with a point and play that well was incredible. I think we showed that ugly side of our game as well.

"We can get about teams and it is promising for the future."
