Held in Vitality Stadium’s Main Stand, the likes of captain Simon Francis and midfielder Andrew Surman were in fine voice as the Cherries kicked off the festive season in style.

The service was led by club chaplain Andy Rimmer, and those in attendance were treated to a range of hymns and Christmas songs by the ‘Do you hear the people sing?’ choir, as well as choirs from four local junior schools, all backed by the Winton Salvation Army Band.

“The community is so important to this football club and it is a pleasure to be able to open the doors of the stadium, not just on a matchday, to bring everyone together,” said chairman Mostyn.

“Christmas is such a special time of year but can also be very difficult for some. With that in mind, I would like to thank those who donated goods to the local food banks on their way into the service because that will provide support to a number of people in the area who are not as fortunate as ourselves.

“Once again, the event was a huge success and it was wonderful to see so many people singing their hearts out. Thanks to everyone who came along.”
