Guests at Sevens Boat Shed were treated to a trip to South Africa earlier this month in the restaurant’s first ever wine night.

Focusing on wines from the rainbow nation, guests at the newly refurbished Crow’s Nest top floor restaurant were able to sample the finest wines, with a particular focus on those from producer Simonsig Wines.

Winemaker Johan Malan guided guests through the evening, whilst an authentic South African menu was also produced to complement it.

Black Label operations manager Paul Fudge was delighted at how the evening went.

“The night was a huge success, with both the wine and food going down marvellously.

“The highlight of the event was the pairing on the Frans Malan Reserve 2007 paired with boerewore sausage, lightly spiced tomato & potato cassoulet, red wine jus.

“We will definitely do more events like this in the future, with our next planned wine night focusing upon wines from Chile.”

The Chile wine night will be held in July next year with a five-course dinner, and tickets priced at £50 per person.
