Cherries manager Eddie Howe described the seven points taken in a difficult week as an excellent return.

The manager is demanding high standards and although he couldn’t hide his delight at a 4-2 away win at Carlisle, he insisted that this side is still capable of more.

“I can’t think of anything but being delighted,” Howe told afcb.co.uk. “From my perspective, I know we can do better.  We have to have that attitude, and that is how we are going to evolve and hopefully be successful.

“We weren’t at our best, but showed a great attitude and we are gaining momentum.  Seven points in a very difficult week – you have got to be pleased with that.

“We could have scored more, particularly after we made it 4-1, but I can’t be too greedy though.  I can’t be critical of the players in any way at all.  Carlisle is not an easy place to come to so it was a really good win.  We took our goals well and our goal return in recent games has been excellent.

“You look at the last three games, firstly against the league leaders Tranmere and then Notts County and Carlisle away and we have got seven points.  It has been an excellent return and all credit to the players for that.  People in this division will be looking at us and thinking Bournemouth are coming to get us.”
