Cherries striker Matt Tubbs put in an impressive 30 minute appearance against Tranmere on Saturday, and is keen to continue that form and force his way in to the starting line up.

It is a busy week coming up for the Cherries with trips to Notts County and Carlisle and Tubbs is ready to step in.

“I’m like everyone, I want to be in that starting eleven.” The striker told afcb.co.uk, “ It’s not up to me whether I will or won’t be. All I can do is to keep working hard and keep plugging away.

“Notts County have had a good start to the season, but so have Tranmere and we turned them over quite comfortably.  We know it won’t be easy going to Meadow Lane.  We are going there with a strategy and a game plan, and with the squad we have, we can go there and get a result.”

Tubbs knows the side must reproduce the excellent performance of the weekend and is confident that the side can do that.

“We had a great win on Saturday.  We showed great character to respond to going a goal behind with three great strikes.  We need to put in the same levels of performance in these away games.  Since the manager came in, he has got the team spirit right up, and it’s not very common that that happens.

“They have also had the same effect on the supporters, and if we can keep that up, we can be up there.”
