With competition rife at the Goldsands Stadium, the centre-back found himself omitted from the match day squad against Leyton Orient, but Zubar believes he can bounce back.
“I believe in what I can do,” he told afcb.co.uk. “I am not afraid – we are Bournemouth. If one day you want to play in the Championship, competition is normal. We want to play in the Championship as soon as possible so it is normal.
“If you don’t want to have competition, don’t play here - don’t stay in Bournemouth.”
According to Zubar, honesty is something that he values in a manager and is a quality he believes Howe will bring to the club.
"We have 34 players, he can play only 11 and if there are seven on the bench, we will have players who will be disappointed. He will make his decision and we will have to respect it.
“I want him to be honest because I don’t need the manager to like me, just to be honest with me.
“I am focused on staying here because I signed for Bournemouth. It is my team, I want to stay here and I am ready to fight to play.”
Looking at the season ahead, the former Plymouth player is also optimistic of the squad’s chances.
“I think we have to try to forget the start of the season because we didn’t start well. But we have good quality in this squad and I am sure we will do well.
“We have to focus on what we can do. We won’t focus on the fact that Tranmere are ten points ahead of us - we just focus on what we want and where we want to go.”
