The Cherries have secured the services of Jon Meades. The left-back had been with his home town club Cardiff City until last season, and joins Bournemouth on a two year deal.
Jon came through the academy at Cardiff City, making it through to the professional ranks and gaining experience during a three month loan spell in Norway.
He comes to the Goldsands Stadium determined to make an impression and told afcb.co.uk:
“I was training with the first team there and playing reserve team football at Cardiff, without making the real breakthrough. I’m definitely looking for it to be different here.
“It’s a big squad with lots of quality, but I feel I can get in to the team and I feel this squad is capable of gaining promotion.
“I like playing passing football and the gaffer here definitely gets us playing the right way. It suits my style of playing and I can’t wait to get started now.”
“I was a Carlisle for a couple of weeks so I haven’t missed anything of pre-season. I feel really fit and ready to go.
Cherries supporters have had the opportunity to see Jon in action twice for Bournemouth this pre-season, at Havant and at home against Reading, and he feels that his versatility will be a big advantage.
I feel I have done OK in the games I have played and I’m determined to get in the side, that’s what I’ve come here to do. I’m a left back, but can play at right back or in midfield, so I have that to my game, and I can do a job wherever I’m asked to play.
“I went in to town with my family after the game on Saturday, and I do have some family down here that I have visited a few times and I know it’s really nice place.
“This is not a step back at all. I’ve seen the new training ground and that looks really nice. The pitch is great, the stadium looks good and everything about this club is moving forward.”
