Eunan O’Kane made his first outing in a Cherries shirt in the 5-1 win at Basingstoke last night, and certainly impressed during his 75 minute display.
The 22 year old who signed from Torquay last week felt the side performed well at the Camrose Ground, and praised his team mates for making him feel so welcome at the club.
“I felt it went alright. The team put in a good performance, scoring five goals against a team from the Conference South, so it was a good work out and served a purpose. It meant we got our match speed up even more. It was my first game and I had to ease my way in, but the lads here have been great and I almost felt part of it as soon as I came through the door. I’ve had a few days training now, so it was good to finally get a game! Everyone has been top class in welcoming me, so I felt comfortable from the start.”
The next time Eunan will be in action will be against Premier League and Championship opposition and it’s something that he can’t wait for.
“It’s going to be great because you want to play against the best teams and Reading who are coming on Saturday are a Premier League side. We them have two Championship sides and they are all going to be big tests for us and we will be looking to hold our own against all of them. It will be about getting fitness and a good work out, but it would be nice to get good results against them.”
Eunan arrived at the club last week right in the middle of one of the most hectic periods of the season, and he admits that he hasn’t had time to think!
“I’ve had people calling me, but I haven’t been able to take their calls because everything has been so busy! I just want to settle down here and relax, but I’m in the process of trying to get a flat sorted, and that’s going a bit slowly, but being this busy is all part and parcel of pre-season and I just have to get on with it. I’ll get there in the end and settle down pretty quickly!”
