Cherries Academy to hold trials in August.

AFC Bournemouth’s Academy have linked with local coach and talent scout Terry Wateridge.

Terry will run a Development Centre for the Under 12 to Under 16 age groups in the Bournemouth area on behalf of the Academy.

Danny Herrington, Development Centre co-ordinator spoke about the appointment and said, “This is wonderful news for the football club as Terry has a wealth of knowledge in coaching and scouting within the Dorset and Hampshire area, he has also run his own academy for a number of years and is heavily involved with the Dorset Schools County sides at 14 to 16 age groups.”

Terry was also in charge of the Centre of Excellence and the youth team at AFC Bournemouth during Sean O’Driscoll’s tenure and was instrumental in the development of Adam Lallana before he left AFC Bournemouth for Southampton at the age of 12.

Cherries Technical Development Officer Matty Holmes is delighted with the appointment and said, “I have known and worked with Terry over a number of years and to bring him into our development process will give a major boost to our recruitment and scouting department.

“Terry is all about player development and playing a possession and skilful game and that is our philosophy within the Academy and Development Centre process. Terry is well known locally and has many contacts. His knowledge and philosophy in player development make him very respected.”

Trials for the new Development Centre will be held during the month of August - successful players will be invited to attend the Development Centre in September. The players selected will work to a syllabus the academy players at AFC Bournemouth work to, academy coaches will coach the sessions under Terry Wateridge’s guidance.
