Wilson Helps Local Students Kick It Out

Written by afcb.co.uk

Just days before leading the line in the Cherries’ Premier League victory at Stoke City, Wilson joined students at the Bishop of Winchester Academy as they took part in a workshop focussing on discrimination in football and society.

He was alongside the club’s Community Sports Trust and former Charlton Athletic and Crystal Palace winger Paul Mortimer, who is now Kick It Out’s professional players engagement manager.

Wilson spoke about his experiences within the game before taking part in a question and answer session.

And he was also entrusted with picking the winning entry from a poster competition, which the students had created to promote not only the message of Kick It Out but also an inclusive environment in football.

And the lucky winner received tickets to watch Bournemouth take on Premier League champions Leicester City at Vitality Stadium next month.

“It was great to be involved in another session,” said Wilson.

“I think Paul does a great job in not only getting Kick It Out’s message across for football but also allowing the students to think how their behaviour can affect people around them.

“I’m honoured to be one of the Next 20 and if I can do my bit to help achieve fairness in the game then I am more than happy to do so.”
