Callum Wilson scored twice to give ten-man AFC Bournemouth a 2-1 win against Bolton Wanderers at the Macron Stadium.
The Cherries had Yann Kermorgant sent off in the 35th minute for a high and late challenge on Mark Davies, but took the lead just after the break through Wilson.
Jay Spearing’s long distance strike took a deflection to put the Trotters back on level terms, only for the Cherries to go ahead once again thanks to the summer signing from Coventry City.
Wilson collected Harry Arter’s clever pass and kept his cool to score his second goal of the afternoon and earn all three points.
Goalkeeper Artur Boruc returned to the starting line-up and was immediately called upon to make early saves to deny Craig Davies.
But from there on in the Cherries were on top and looked the most likely side to open the scoring.
Matt Ritchie went close with a low curled strike before Kermorgant had a snapshot pushed behind for a corner at the end of the away team’s most threatening attacks.
The striker was then at the heart of the action again in the 35th minute as he was shown a straight red card. It appeared harsh on Kermorgant, who caught Davies on the thigh but without any malice.
However, the Cherries were forced to play just under an hour with ten men following the side’s second sending off in two games.
The first half had produced plenty of drama and the second period was no different, with two goals in the opening six minutes.
It took Wilson just 48 seconds to find the back of the net, squeezing the ball between Andy Lonergan’s legs at the near post.
But the lead was shot lived as Spearing equalised five minutes later, although the strike appeared to take a deflection on its way through.
The leveller certainly put the hosts into the ascendency and Lee Chung-Yong twice tested Boruc’s handling with swerving drives from range.
The Cherries were holding until a moment of class put them back in front. Arter found Wilson with a perfect through ball and he clinically converted.
