Report by Tom Crocker:-
Bournemouth fell to a third successive defeat after a frustrating day at Stadium:mk.
Both managers made three changes to their sides which lost against Notts County earlier this month with the Cherries crashing out of the FA Cup two weeks ago today whilst MK Dons were beaten by the Nottingham club in a League One clash on December 11th. Eddie Howe handed a first league start to 18 year old striker Danny Ings whilst Adam Smith returned at right back. The other change saw Shwan Jalal return from injury to take his place in goal. Karl Robinson brought O'Hanlon, Ibehre and Powell into the starting line-up with MacKenzie and Carrington dropping to the bench and Wilbraham missing out through suspension.
The home side certainly started the brighter of the two, registering a shot in the opening minute through Danny Woodards who drilled over the bar. The home crowd's efforts to ensure this game beat the cold snap through voluntary snow shovelling yesterday were rewarded with a goal in the sixth minute. Marc Pugh was robbed of possession inside his own half and the ball was rolled into the path of Lewis Guy to tuck the ball into the net from close range.
The Cherries were looking shaky at the back and not too threatening going forwards with the inexperienced duo of Taylor and Ings up front and it took a first half substitution to swing the momentum. Steve Fletcher replaced Danny Ings giving the visitors a more physical option.
MK Dons thought they had doubled their lead just past the half hour when Jabo Ibehre's cross was slid in by Daniel Powell only to see the linesman's flag raised for offside.
There was a huge shout for a penalty just before half time after a low corner was smashed goal-wards by Adam Smith. The ball looped into the air before being headed on by Fletcher and it appeared to strike an arm on its way through but referee Langford waved away the claims.
Howe made a second change at half time bringing on the returning Shaun Cooper in place of Anton Robinson, which allowed Marvin Bartley to move into midfield. The scores were almost level soon after the break when Fletcher's knockdown was flashed wide by Lyle Taylor, who still searches for his first Bournemouth goal.
The ball was bouncing around the MK Dons box on many occasions but it just wasn't falling Bournemouth's way despite the best efforts of Pearce, Pugh and Feeney in quick succession. Nicholas Bignall was thrown on for Lyle Taylor as the Cherries searched for an equaliser which could've came had the referee not brought the play back for a foul on Fletcher as Feeney burst towards goal.
With not long left on the clock, the Bournemouth fans twice shouted for the ball crossing the line, firstly when Luke Chadwick sliced his clearance back towards David Martin in the Dons goal. However the keeper was deemed to have saved the midfielder's blushes. With just nine minutes remaining, Bournemouth came closest to an equaliser through Steve Fletcher. The big striker powered a header towards goal only to see it crash off the underside of the bar and bounce back down onto, but ultimately not over, the goal line.
As the Cherries pushed forwards they were always going to be susceptible on the break and so it proved with five minutes remaining. With Bournemouth attacking from a corner MK Dons broke and found themselves in a three on one situation at the back and worked it well enough to find MathiasDoumbe, who just managed to stay onside and slot home to seal the points.
Despite this defeat the Cherries remain in the playoff places but will need to start picking up points beginning with the trip to Swindon on New Years Day as they look to open 2011 with a bang.

As it happened:
90+4 - Final score: MK Dons 2-0 AFC Bournemouth - Bournemouth were looking as though they were going to equalise after hitting the bar and many scrambles in the MK Dons box but the hosts held on and scored on the breakaway to seal three points and condemn the Cherries to a third successive defeat.
90 - 4 minutes added on.
85 - GOAL!! MK DONS 2-0 AFC BOURNEMOUTH - Game over now as MK Dons counter attack from a Bournemouth corner and Mathias Doumbe looks a fraction offside but the linesman keeps his flag down and the centre back tucks the ball past Jalal.
84 - David Martin tips a Pugh cross over the crossbar.
83 - Mark Carrington replaces Stephen Gleeson for MK Dons.
82 - Marc Pugh is in behind the defence but takes a heavy touch and Martin gets his body in the way of the shot.
81 - So close to an equaliser for Bournemouth after Steve Fletcher smashes a header off the underside of the bar but the ball doesn't bounce over the line according to the officials.
78 - On the breakaway Sam Baldock takes on Jason Pearce and fires his shot into the side netting.
77 - Bignall crosses the ball in and Chadwick slices his clearance back towards his own goal and the Cherries fans shout that the ball has crossed the line but Martin saves the midfielder's blushes.
72 - Steve Fletcher is fouled but the ball is played through to Feeney who is baring down on goal only for referee Langford to pull the play back for the foul. Lewis Guy is replaced by Luke Chadwick for the hosts.

68 - Jabo Ibehre slices his effort and doesn't trouble the keeper.

54 - Jabo Ibehre's right footed shot is straight at Jalal.
52 - Adam Smith is brought down twenty yards from goal. Left footed free kick from Wiggins is saved by Martin.
47 - Steve Fletcher nods the ball down to Lyle Taylor who fires wide.
45 - Half time change for Bournemouth with Shaun Cooper replacing Anton Robinson. An interesting change, let's see what impact that has. Bartley moves into midfield with Cooper slotting into the centre of defence.
45+1 - Half time: MK Dons 1-0 AFC Bournemouth - It's been a half of two halves with MK Dons deserving their one goal lead early on but as soon as Steve Fletcher was introduced the Cherries looked more threatening and the game is in the balance now.
41 - Corner taken low by Wiggins towards the edge of the area. Feeney leaves it for Smith whose shot is blocked up into the air and Fletcher heads towards goal and shouts for a handball are waved away by referee Oli Langford. Two further corner come to nothing.
36 - Fletcher has changed the game here winning numerous flick ons and Bournemouth are looking far more dangerous going forwards now as we approach half time.
34 - Cross from Guy is misjudged by Ibehre and the Cherries escape.
31 - Goal disallowed for MK Dons. Ibehre crosses from the right and the ball is slid in at the back post by Powell only to see the offside flag raised.
30 - Danny Ings league debut is brought to an abrupt end as he is substituted for Steve Fletcher.
25 - From the resulting corner O'Hanlon's shot is blocked. The Cherries are struggling to get into this match at the moment.
24 - Shwan Jalal makes an expert point blank range save and tips it behind from a corner.
23 - Jason Pearce is dispossessed and Lewis Guy beats the offside trap only for Jalal to clear the danger.
11 - Good work from Marc Pugh who twists and turns past his man but the cross is deflected out for a corner which is wasted.
6 - GOAL!! MK DONS 1-0 AFC BOURNEMOUTH - Marc Pugh is robbed of possession deep inside the Bournemouth half and the ball is pulled across to Lewis Guy who couldn't miss from close range. Not a good start from the Cherries.
1 - Early shot by Woodards drilled over the bar.
