Whilst the Cherries have impressed on home soil this term, the Black Cats are without a win in the league so far and currently sit at the foot of the Premier League table.

However, despite the contrasting fortunes of both sides, Gosling is still expecting a tough game and insists that the Cherries must maintain the recent levels shown at Vitality Stadium.

Speaking to afcb.co.uk, the midfielder said: “We know it’ll be tough against Sunderland. Just because they’re bottom of the league doesn’t mean it’ll be an easy game and we’ll have to be at it for the whole 90 minutes.

“It’s always nice to head into the international break with three points on the board, otherwise it’ll be a long couple of weeks before the next game and things tend to drag on. We’re looking to get the three points and create another little bit of a gap between the sides just below us.

“Our home form last year wasn’t great, but this year we’ve started very well so if we can pick up where we left off against Spurs then I’m sure it’ll be a difficult afternoon for them.

“The fans have been great. I think the way we’ve started recent home games has certainly helped. That’s what makes the fans shout loud and it helps us on the pitch.

“They were great against Tottenham and got us over the line.”

The 26-year-old also spoke of last week’s defeat against Middlesbrough and how crucial it is to bounce back.

He continued: “We reviewed the game a couple of days ago and refocussed ourselves on the training ground. The intensity has been there, as it was the week leading up to Tottenham.

“Hopefully we can start brightly on the weekend and get a positive result.”
